Aja of the Orishas exists in the tension between power and grace, tradition and reinvention, a visual hymn to the unseen forces that shape our world.
Half-drawn, half-painted, the figure of Aja—Yoruba goddess of the forest, healing, and herbal wisdom—emerges from a black gesso void. A warrior-seer, adorned with a breastplate evocative of Joan of Arc’s armored resilience, softened by the organic abundance of her headdress. Speaker to animals, knower of plant magic, Aja's stern regard is a hard won prize, for she suffers no fool.
