Something is connecting. Something is becoming something else.

Alchemy maps a molecular structure across a deep black ground — nodes and bonds rendered in turquoise, yellow, red, pink and white, the geometry of matter at the moment just before transformation. It looks like a chemistry diagram drawn by someone who understood that the most interesting thing about molecules is not what they are but what they are about to become. The collage fragments embedded in several of the nodes add a further layer — fragments of text, of print, of the world made paper, caught inside the structure like information encoded at the atomic level.

The palette is joyful and precise simultaneously — each connection a different colour, each node a slightly different weight, the whole system balanced on the edge of something. Order that is one bond away from becoming chaos. Chaos that is one bond away from becoming order. The title says it exactly — this is the painting of transformation itself, the moment the base thing becomes the precious one.

Against the black ground the colours are luminous and almost three-dimensional — the nodes lifting off the canvas, the bonds connecting them with the clean confidence of something that knows exactly what it is doing even if we are still figuring it out.
