A Emerald Toucanet of extraordinary plumage perches in the deep green of a tropical canopy, his oversized beak worn with the casual confidence of someone who has never once considered whether it is proportionate and never will. He is electric lime and forest green and the particular blue-grey of a bird who knows exactly where he stands in the hierarchy of beautiful things — which is near the top, and he is fine with that.

The jungle around him is painted with the same expressive urgency as the bird himself — deep greens, near-black shadow, flashes of acid yellow where light breaks through the canopy. Barry sits within it as if he has always been there and always will be, one bright eye regarding the world with the alert, slightly suspicious expression of someone who has seen things and formed opinions.

Barry the Bird is that rare thing — a painting with genuine personality. Not the personality of the subject, though Barry has plenty. The personality of a painter who named a toucanet Barry and committed to it completely, and in doing so made something that is simultaneously a serious piece of tropical bird painting and the most loveable work in the collection.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer free shipping on most works, with shipping costs (when applicable) never exceeding 10% of the piece's price. Large canvases ship rolled in a professional tube; oversized works requiring special packaging may be an exception, and we're happy to provide a quote. International collectors are responsible for any duties and taxes upon arrival.

Can I receive my painting already stretched and framed?

Large works ship rolled by default for safety in transit. If you'd prefer your piece delivered already on stretcher bars, contact us before purchasing for a separate shipping quote at your own expense. If you're interested in framing, reach out to claire@clairepriceartist.com to discuss your vision — we're happy to provide quotes and mockups to help you visualize the finished piece.

What if I'm not happy with my purchase?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving the work. Choosing an artwork is a deeply personal experience, and we'll do our best to help place the right piece in your home — if something isn't right, contact us immediately and we'll try to facilitate an exchange or, if necessary, a refund. For returns, the client is responsible for the cost of shipping and insuring the piece back to us; once it arrives safely, a full refund is issued minus shipping and related expenses.

Is each piece truly one of a kind?

Yes — every original is a unique, one-of-one work, signed by the artist on the front and/or back, and shipped with a certificate of authenticity establishing provenance. The artist retains all copyright to the image, and reserves the right to reproduce it as prints or use it in future projects, at her discretion.

Do you take custom commissions?

Occasionally, by inquiry. Commission pricing is calculated at $4.50 per square inch, with a 50% non-refundable deposit required to begin. Contact us to discuss your piece and confirm availability.
