SPOOKY TREE Acrylic on Canvas | 46" × 60" | 2018

It has been here longer than everything else. It will be here after everything else. It knows this.

Spooky Tree is a painting of a moss-draped ancient — a conifer of extraordinary age and presence, its branches weighted with electric green moss that hangs and drapes and reaches in every direction with the unhurried extravagance of something that has never once been in a hurry and never intends to start. The trunk rises from a ground of deep ferns and forest shadow, dark and massive, the kind of tree that has its own weather system and its own sense of time.

The moss is the painting. Acid green, almost luminous, painted with the kind of sustained, devoted attention that transforms botanical observation into something close to reverence. Against the deep blue-green of the forest behind and the ferns below, it glows with an intensity that is simultaneously completely natural and completely magical — the particular quality of old-growth forest light that makes you feel you have stumbled into somewhere that was never meant to be found.

Behind the tree, flashes of pink and orange break through the forest dark — the outside world, the bright world, glimpsed through the canopy and already receding. You are in here now. With the tree. On its terms.

Spooky Tree is a significant landscape work — large, immersive and painted with the technical confidence of an artist who has spent real time in real forests and understands that the most extraordinary things in the natural world don't need to be dramatised. They just need to be looked at properly.

FAQ

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer free shipping on most works, with shipping costs (when applicable) never exceeding 10% of the piece's price. Large canvases ship rolled in a professional tube; oversized works requiring special packaging may be an exception, and we're happy to provide a quote. International collectors are responsible for any duties and taxes upon arrival.

Can I receive my painting already stretched and framed?

Large works ship rolled by default for safety in transit. If you'd prefer your piece delivered already on stretcher bars, contact us before purchasing for a separate shipping quote at your own expense. If you're interested in framing, reach out to claire@clairepriceartist.com to discuss your vision — we're happy to provide quotes and mockups to help you visualize the finished piece.

What if I'm not happy with my purchase?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving the work. Choosing an artwork is a deeply personal experience, and we'll do our best to help place the right piece in your home — if something isn't right, contact us immediately and we'll try to facilitate an exchange or, if necessary, a refund. For returns, the client is responsible for the cost of shipping and insuring the piece back to us; once it arrives safely, a full refund is issued minus shipping and related expenses.

Is each piece truly one of a kind?

Yes — every original is a unique, one-of-one work, signed by the artist on the front and/or back, and shipped with a certificate of authenticity establishing provenance. The artist retains all copyright to the image, and reserves the right to reproduce it as prints or use it in future projects, at her discretion.

Do you take custom commissions?

Occasionally, by inquiry. Commission pricing is calculated at $4.50 per square inch, with a 50% non-refundable deposit required to begin. Contact us to discuss your piece and confirm availability.
