ATOMIC SUMMER Acrylic on Canvas | 36" × 36"

They are running toward the beach. Or away from something else entirely.

Atomic Summer is the painting that makes you laugh and then makes you think and then makes you laugh again — before the thinking catches up with you properly and you realise it never really let you go.

Four figures in vintage swimwear — all mid-century optimism and gleaming teeth — run hand in hand across a horizon of burnt orange and purple, the colours of a sunset or a warning. Behind them, rendered in meticulous grey-scale, a mushroom cloud rises with the unhurried inevitability of something that cannot be undone. A strip of colour-graded blocks sits to the left like a broadcast test signal, a painter's palette, a last calibration before transmission ends.

The sky is the most perfect, unbothered blue.

This is painting as dark comedy, as cultural commentary, as a very specific kind of joy that only exists when you look directly at the thing you're not supposed to look at and refuse to flinch. Atomic Summer sits in a rich tradition of post-war American pop art — but it arrives with a sharper edge, a more knowing smile and considerably better brushwork.

It will be the most interesting painting in any room it enters. It will start more conversations than anything else on the wall. It will make people uncomfortable in the most delightful way.

FAQ

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer free shipping on most works, with shipping costs (when applicable) never exceeding 10% of the piece's price. Large canvases ship rolled in a professional tube; oversized works requiring special packaging may be an exception, and we're happy to provide a quote. International collectors are responsible for any duties and taxes upon arrival.

Can I receive my painting already stretched and framed?

Large works ship rolled by default for safety in transit. If you'd prefer your piece delivered already on stretcher bars, contact us before purchasing for a separate shipping quote at your own expense. If you're interested in framing, reach out to claire@clairepriceartist.com to discuss your vision — we're happy to provide quotes and mockups to help you visualize the finished piece.

What if I'm not happy with my purchase?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving the work. Choosing an artwork is a deeply personal experience, and we'll do our best to help place the right piece in your home — if something isn't right, contact us immediately and we'll try to facilitate an exchange or, if necessary, a refund. For returns, the client is responsible for the cost of shipping and insuring the piece back to us; once it arrives safely, a full refund is issued minus shipping and related expenses.

Is each piece truly one of a kind?

Yes — every original is a unique, one-of-one work, signed by the artist on the front and/or back, and shipped with a certificate of authenticity establishing provenance. The artist retains all copyright to the image, and reserves the right to reproduce it as prints or use it in future projects, at her discretion.

Do you take custom commissions?

Occasionally, by inquiry. Commission pricing is calculated at $4.50 per square inch, with a 50% non-refundable deposit required to begin. Contact us to discuss your piece and confirm availability.
