LOBSTER Acrylic on Canvas | 36" × 48" | 2026 Delicacies Series

There is something about a lobster.

Regal, ancient, absurd and magnificent all at once — the lobster has always occupied a peculiar place in our cultural imagination. Luxury and comedy in equal measure. The ultimate dinner party centrepiece. A creature that looks like it was designed by someone with a very particular sense of humour and an unlimited budget.

This one demands your full attention.

Painted at commanding scale, Lobster is rendered frontally — claws raised, tail fanned, occupying the canvas with the confidence of something that has absolutely nothing to prove. The palette is all deep crimson, burgundy and vermillion, barely contained against a loose, luminous ground of sage and cream that lets the subject breathe and dominate simultaneously. The brushwork is assured and generous — you can feel the weight of the paint, the deliberateness of every mark.

This is still life painting with swagger. Old master subject matter with a completely contemporary attitude.

Part of the Delicacies Series — an ongoing celebration of food, pleasure and the art of taking the deliciously ordinary seriously. Lobster is the series at its most commanding. This is not a small painting of a small idea. It is a large painting of a very large personality.

FAQ

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer free shipping on most works, with shipping costs (when applicable) never exceeding 10% of the piece's price. Large canvases ship rolled in a professional tube; oversized works requiring special packaging may be an exception, and we're happy to provide a quote. International collectors are responsible for any duties and taxes upon arrival.

Can I receive my painting already stretched and framed?

Large works ship rolled by default for safety in transit. If you'd prefer your piece delivered already on stretcher bars, contact us before purchasing for a separate shipping quote at your own expense. If you're interested in framing, reach out to claire@clairepriceartist.com to discuss your vision — we're happy to provide quotes and mockups to help you visualize the finished piece.

What if I'm not happy with my purchase?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving the work. Choosing an artwork is a deeply personal experience, and we'll do our best to help place the right piece in your home — if something isn't right, contact us immediately and we'll try to facilitate an exchange or, if necessary, a refund. For returns, the client is responsible for the cost of shipping and insuring the piece back to us; once it arrives safely, a full refund is issued minus shipping and related expenses.

Is each piece truly one of a kind?

Yes — every original is a unique, one-of-one work, signed by the artist on the front and/or back, and shipped with a certificate of authenticity establishing provenance. The artist retains all copyright to the image, and reserves the right to reproduce it as prints or use it in future projects, at her discretion.

Do you take custom commissions?

Occasionally, by inquiry. Commission pricing is calculated at $4.50 per square inch, with a 50% non-refundable deposit required to begin. Contact us to discuss your piece and confirm availability.
