WINDGRASS Acrylic, Oil Stick & Charcoal on Canvas | 30" × 48"

Some paintings ask to be looked at. Windgrass simply asks to be lived with.

Diagonal sweeps of white oil stick and black charcoal move across a ground of warm jade green — unhurried, unforced, like grass bending in a breeze that has somewhere else to be. The marks are minimal and deliberate. Nothing is overcrowded. Nothing is trying too hard.

What makes this canvas quietly extraordinary is beneath the surface — the acrylic ground is mixed with marble chalk, giving the paint layer a subtle texture that mimics the quality of a chalkboard. It is a canvas you will want to touch. The charcoal marks sit into it differently than paint ever could. The oil stick catches the light and holds it.

This is the painting for the person who knows that the most considered rooms are the ones that know when to be still.

✨ A Note on the Making

The goal here was deliberate — minimalistic mark making on a textured ground to create something organic, calm and genuinely easy to live with. No noise. Just presence.

FAQ

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer free shipping on most works, with shipping costs (when applicable) never exceeding 10% of the piece's price. Large canvases ship rolled in a professional tube; oversized works requiring special packaging may be an exception, and we're happy to provide a quote. International collectors are responsible for any duties and taxes upon arrival.

Can I receive my painting already stretched and framed?

Large works ship rolled by default for safety in transit. If you'd prefer your piece delivered already on stretcher bars, contact us before purchasing for a separate shipping quote at your own expense. If you're interested in framing, reach out to claire@clairepriceartist.com to discuss your vision — we're happy to provide quotes and mockups to help you visualize the finished piece.

What if I'm not happy with my purchase?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving the work. Choosing an artwork is a deeply personal experience, and we'll do our best to help place the right piece in your home — if something isn't right, contact us immediately and we'll try to facilitate an exchange or, if necessary, a refund. For returns, the client is responsible for the cost of shipping and insuring the piece back to us; once it arrives safely, a full refund is issued minus shipping and related expenses.

Is each piece truly one of a kind?

Yes — every original is a unique, one-of-one work, signed by the artist on the front and/or back, and shipped with a certificate of authenticity establishing provenance. The artist retains all copyright to the image, and reserves the right to reproduce it as prints or use it in future projects, at her discretion.

Do you take custom commissions?

Occasionally, by inquiry. Commission pricing is calculated at $4.50 per square inch, with a 50% non-refundable deposit required to begin. Contact us to discuss your piece and confirm availability.
