MANA TIKI Acrylic & Oil on Canvas | 24" × 30" | 2025

Some forms carry power across every century they pass through. This is one of them.

Mana Tiki is a painting of a hei-tiki — the carved ancestral figure of Māori tradition, one of the most ancient and potent symbols of the Pacific — rendered in deep forest green and white against a ground of burnished gold and red that pulses with the energy of something ceremonial and completely alive. The chevron pattern behind the figure is painted in gold leaf and crimson — the meeting of traditional geometric patterning and raw painterly mark — the kind of ground that makes the green figure in front of it feel like it is emerging from the earth rather than sitting on a surface.

The two red eyes hold you. They have always held you. The hei-tiki's gaze is not a human gaze — it is older than that, more patient, the gaze of an ancestor who has been watching from this form for longer than the canvas has existed and will continue watching long after.

Mana — prestige, authority, spiritual power. Tiki — the first human form, the ancestor, the guardian. Together in a painting that honours the tradition it draws from while existing completely in the present tense — the gold and red of it, the oil and acrylic of it, the 2025 of it.

This is a work of genuine cultural resonance and considerable beauty.

FAQ

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer free shipping on most works, with shipping costs (when applicable) never exceeding 10% of the piece's price. Large canvases ship rolled in a professional tube; oversized works requiring special packaging may be an exception, and we're happy to provide a quote. International collectors are responsible for any duties and taxes upon arrival.

Can I receive my painting already stretched and framed?

Large works ship rolled by default for safety in transit. If you'd prefer your piece delivered already on stretcher bars, contact us before purchasing for a separate shipping quote at your own expense. If you're interested in framing, reach out to claire@clairepriceartist.com to discuss your vision — we're happy to provide quotes and mockups to help you visualize the finished piece.

What if I'm not happy with my purchase?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving the work. Choosing an artwork is a deeply personal experience, and we'll do our best to help place the right piece in your home — if something isn't right, contact us immediately and we'll try to facilitate an exchange or, if necessary, a refund. For returns, the client is responsible for the cost of shipping and insuring the piece back to us; once it arrives safely, a full refund is issued minus shipping and related expenses.

Is each piece truly one of a kind?

Yes — every original is a unique, one-of-one work, signed by the artist on the front and/or back, and shipped with a certificate of authenticity establishing provenance. The artist retains all copyright to the image, and reserves the right to reproduce it as prints or use it in future projects, at her discretion.

Do you take custom commissions?

Occasionally, by inquiry. Commission pricing is calculated at $4.50 per square inch, with a 50% non-refundable deposit required to begin. Contact us to discuss your piece and confirm availability.
