ARISTIDE Acrylic on Wood Panel | 20" × 24" | 2022

She is looking at you the way people look when they already know the answer.

Aristide is a portrait that operates at full intensity — a face built from cobalt, violet and aquamarine, fractured with lines of orange and gold that map her features like something between a circuit and a ceremony. Her hair moves outward in deep purple and indigo, electric against the burning orange ground that has become a signature of this body of figurative work. She is contemporary and timeless in the same breath.

The brushwork is confident and layered — this is not a face painted so much as constructed, mark by deliberate mark, until something unmistakably alive looks back at you. There is attitude here, and intelligence, and the particular self-possession of someone entirely comfortable with being looked at because they are simultaneously doing all the looking.

A portrait painting for people who find conventional portraits too quiet.

Painted on wood panel — the solid ground gives the colours a depth and luminosity that canvas simply cannot replicate. Aristide glows.

FAQ

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer free shipping on most works, with shipping costs (when applicable) never exceeding 10% of the piece's price. Large canvases ship rolled in a professional tube; oversized works requiring special packaging may be an exception, and we're happy to provide a quote. International collectors are responsible for any duties and taxes upon arrival.

Can I receive my painting already stretched and framed?

Large works ship rolled by default for safety in transit. If you'd prefer your piece delivered already on stretcher bars, contact us before purchasing for a separate shipping quote at your own expense. If you're interested in framing, reach out to claire@clairepriceartist.com to discuss your vision — we're happy to provide quotes and mockups to help you visualize the finished piece.

What if I'm not happy with my purchase?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving the work. Choosing an artwork is a deeply personal experience, and we'll do our best to help place the right piece in your home — if something isn't right, contact us immediately and we'll try to facilitate an exchange or, if necessary, a refund. For returns, the client is responsible for the cost of shipping and insuring the piece back to us; once it arrives safely, a full refund is issued minus shipping and related expenses.

Is each piece truly one of a kind?

Yes — every original is a unique, one-of-one work, signed by the artist on the front and/or back, and shipped with a certificate of authenticity establishing provenance. The artist retains all copyright to the image, and reserves the right to reproduce it as prints or use it in future projects, at her discretion.

Do you take custom commissions?

Occasionally, by inquiry. Commission pricing is calculated at $4.50 per square inch, with a 50% non-refundable deposit required to begin. Contact us to discuss your piece and confirm availability.
