CARDINAL GREEN Acrylic & Glitter on Wood Panel | 8" × 10" | 2022 Custom Framed

RED. On GREEN. The word says so.

Cardinal Green is the third and most declarative of the Cardinal series — the Northern Cardinal rendered in deep, vivid crimson against a ground of the most electric, uncompromising green imaginable, the word GREEN painted across the background in white letters that wrap around the bird with the casual confidence of a painting that knows exactly what it is and has decided to announce it. The branch the cardinal sits on glitters — literally, physically, the silver glitter catching every available photon and returning it with interest, a perch that is simultaneously naturalistic and completely, gloriously excessive.

The red against the green is the whole painting — complementary colours at maximum saturation, the kind of colour relationship that makes the eye vibrate in the best possible way. The cardinal sits within it with complete composure, utterly unbothered by the fact that his branch sparkles, that his background announces itself by name, that he is the reddest thing in the greenest possible world.

He has always been the reddest thing in the greenest possible world. The painting simply makes it official.

Together Orange Cardinal, Blue Cardinal and Cardinal Green form a complete triptych — three paintings, three grounds, one bird, endlessly itself across all of them. Collect the set. The wall that holds all three needs nothing else.

FAQ

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer free shipping on most works, with shipping costs (when applicable) never exceeding 10% of the piece's price. Large canvases ship rolled in a professional tube; oversized works requiring special packaging may be an exception, and we're happy to provide a quote. International collectors are responsible for any duties and taxes upon arrival.

Can I receive my painting already stretched and framed?

Large works ship rolled by default for safety in transit. If you'd prefer your piece delivered already on stretcher bars, contact us before purchasing for a separate shipping quote at your own expense. If you're interested in framing, reach out to claire@clairepriceartist.com to discuss your vision — we're happy to provide quotes and mockups to help you visualize the finished piece.

What if I'm not happy with my purchase?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving the work. Choosing an artwork is a deeply personal experience, and we'll do our best to help place the right piece in your home — if something isn't right, contact us immediately and we'll try to facilitate an exchange or, if necessary, a refund. For returns, the client is responsible for the cost of shipping and insuring the piece back to us; once it arrives safely, a full refund is issued minus shipping and related expenses.

Is each piece truly one of a kind?

Yes — every original is a unique, one-of-one work, signed by the artist on the front and/or back, and shipped with a certificate of authenticity establishing provenance. The artist retains all copyright to the image, and reserves the right to reproduce it as prints or use it in future projects, at her discretion.

Do you take custom commissions?

Occasionally, by inquiry. Commission pricing is calculated at $4.50 per square inch, with a 50% non-refundable deposit required to begin. Contact us to discuss your piece and confirm availability.
