HAVE YOUR CAKE Acrylic on Canvas | 42" × 58"

It was my 50th birthday. I piped the paint on like icing.

This is not a painting of a perfect cake. This is a painting of a cake that has lived — that has leaned into the table, shed its layers, worn its roses with the casual confidence of something that was never going to be careful. Red roses stud the thick white frosting like declarations. The layers beneath are visible — pink, green, lavender — collapsing into each other with the magnificent inevitability of a very good party reaching its natural conclusion.

And the background isn't background at all. It is everything — hot pink, black, yellow, the gestural, explosive energy of a canvas that was painted on a milestone birthday by someone who had absolutely nothing left to prove and everything left to celebrate.

Have Your Cake is thick. Tactile. The paint is piped and sculpted directly onto the surface — roses built up in impasto, frosting applied with the generosity of someone who has stopped measuring. Press your eye close and it becomes almost edible. Step back and it becomes something else entirely — a self-portrait in sugar and paint, a declaration, a very specific kind of joy.

The title is only half the saying. The other half is the painting.

FAQ

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer free shipping on most works, with shipping costs (when applicable) never exceeding 10% of the piece's price. Large canvases ship rolled in a professional tube; oversized works requiring special packaging may be an exception, and we're happy to provide a quote. International collectors are responsible for any duties and taxes upon arrival.

Can I receive my painting already stretched and framed?

Large works ship rolled by default for safety in transit. If you'd prefer your piece delivered already on stretcher bars, contact us before purchasing for a separate shipping quote at your own expense. If you're interested in framing, reach out to claire@clairepriceartist.com to discuss your vision — we're happy to provide quotes and mockups to help you visualize the finished piece.

What if I'm not happy with my purchase?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving the work. Choosing an artwork is a deeply personal experience, and we'll do our best to help place the right piece in your home — if something isn't right, contact us immediately and we'll try to facilitate an exchange or, if necessary, a refund. For returns, the client is responsible for the cost of shipping and insuring the piece back to us; once it arrives safely, a full refund is issued minus shipping and related expenses.

Is each piece truly one of a kind?

Yes — every original is a unique, one-of-one work, signed by the artist on the front and/or back, and shipped with a certificate of authenticity establishing provenance. The artist retains all copyright to the image, and reserves the right to reproduce it as prints or use it in future projects, at her discretion.

Do you take custom commissions?

Occasionally, by inquiry. Commission pricing is calculated at $4.50 per square inch, with a 50% non-refundable deposit required to begin. Contact us to discuss your piece and confirm availability.
