An Afghan Hound of extraordinary bearing reclines on an ornate sofa with the languid, practiced indifference of someone who has been the most beautiful creature in every room they have ever entered and has long since stopped acknowledging it. Above him, a cascade of balloons in every colour imaginable — red, blue, green, yellow, pink, orange — tumbles across the upper canvas like a party that arrived uninvited and decided to stay. A basket of flowers blooms in the corner. The wallpaper is teal and magnificent. Everything is slightly too much and absolutely perfect.

The dog remains unmoved.
