Dark Deliciosa is a monstera painting for people who find most monstera paintings too polite. There is nothing decorative happening here — this is the monstera as it actually is, as it wants to be, as it exists in the fevered imagination of someone who is genuinely, helplessly obsessed. The leaves press against each other and against the picture plane with tropical urgency, their characteristic splits and fenestrations rendered in deep forest green, burning orange-red and acid yellow-green that makes the whole canvas hum with a low, persistent intensity.

The darkness is part of it. Deep teal, near-black shadow, the blue of something cool and deep glimpsed between leaves — the kind of darkness that makes the light parts more luminous by contrast. This is chiaroscuro for the jungle. Caravaggio, if Caravaggio had been obsessed with aroids.
