NUITS DE BOURGOGNE Acrylic, Collage & Phosphorescent Paint on Wood Panel | 24" × 20" | 1⅞" Deep

Turn the lights off. Wait. Then see what this painting really is.

Nuits de Bourgogne — Nights of Burgundy — is a painting that exists in two states. In daylight it is a nocturnal forest scene of considerable atmosphere — bare winter trees rising against a deep charcoal sky, a church spire silhouetted on the left, two small dark animals moving through the undergrowth with the quiet purposefulness of creatures who own the night. Orbs of colour float through the trees — blue, pink, green, orange, yellow — too luminous to be lanterns, too deliberate to be stars. A eight-pointed star hangs in the middle distance like a navigation point for something that doesn't use maps.

Then the lights go off.

The phosphorescent paint glows. The orbs pulse softly in the dark. The star holds its light longer than anything else. The forest becomes something else entirely — a place where the magical is not suggested but demonstrated, quietly, in the dark, for anyone patient enough to wait for it.

This is a painting about the Burgundy countryside at night — the deep, ancient dark of a French forest, the kind of darkness that cities have forgotten how to make, alive with things that only reveal themselves when you stop trying to see them with the lights on.

The collage elements add texture and history to the surface — layers of the physical world beneath the painted one, the way the past is always present beneath the present in old places like Burgundy.

Nuits de Bourgogne. What it shows you in the light is beautiful. What it shows you in the dark is something else entirely.

✨ A Note on This Work

Nuits de Bourgogne contains phosphorescent paint that glows in the dark after exposure to light. For the full experience — charge it in daylight and turn the lights off. The painting will do the rest.

FAQ

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer free shipping on most works, with shipping costs (when applicable) never exceeding 10% of the piece's price. Large canvases ship rolled in a professional tube; oversized works requiring special packaging may be an exception, and we're happy to provide a quote. International collectors are responsible for any duties and taxes upon arrival.

Can I receive my painting already stretched and framed?

Large works ship rolled by default for safety in transit. If you'd prefer your piece delivered already on stretcher bars, contact us before purchasing for a separate shipping quote at your own expense. If you're interested in framing, reach out to claire@clairepriceartist.com to discuss your vision — we're happy to provide quotes and mockups to help you visualize the finished piece.

What if I'm not happy with my purchase?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving the work. Choosing an artwork is a deeply personal experience, and we'll do our best to help place the right piece in your home — if something isn't right, contact us immediately and we'll try to facilitate an exchange or, if necessary, a refund. For returns, the client is responsible for the cost of shipping and insuring the piece back to us; once it arrives safely, a full refund is issued minus shipping and related expenses.

Is each piece truly one of a kind?

Yes — every original is a unique, one-of-one work, signed by the artist on the front and/or back, and shipped with a certificate of authenticity establishing provenance. The artist retains all copyright to the image, and reserves the right to reproduce it as prints or use it in future projects, at her discretion.

Do you take custom commissions?

Occasionally, by inquiry. Commission pricing is calculated at $4.50 per square inch, with a 50% non-refundable deposit required to begin. Contact us to discuss your piece and confirm availability.
