Shaggy Gingernut was exhibited at O'Flaherty's gallery on the Lower East Side — the celebrated space founded by Jamian Juliano-Villani, one of the most exciting and uncompromising voices in contemporary art — where it caught the eye of more than one serious person and came extremely close to finding its home. It is here now. It will not be here long.

A Pomeranian of extraordinary fluffiness occupies the centre of the panel with the complete, spherical self-satisfaction of something that has achieved its ideal form and knows it. The fur is painted in impasto — layered, textured, genuinely tactile, the warm ginger and brown and cream of it built up in marks that carry the energy of the hand that made them and the considerable charm of the subject. The background is the bare wood grain of the panel itself, painted over loosely in white and warm cream, the horizontal lines of the timber reading through the paint like the boards of a porch or a barn or simply a surface that understood it was the right background for this particular dog and got out of the way.

The painting is funny and technically serious simultaneously — which is the best kind of painting to own. The dog is magnificent. The dog knows it. The framing — bold face maple oak floater, 2" deep — gives the whole thing the gallery presence it earned at O'Flaherty's and deserves on your wall.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer free shipping on most works, with shipping costs (when applicable) never exceeding 10% of the piece's price. Large canvases ship rolled in a professional tube; oversized works requiring special packaging may be an exception, and we're happy to provide a quote. International collectors are responsible for any duties and taxes upon arrival.

Can I receive my painting already stretched and framed?

Large works ship rolled by default for safety in transit. If you'd prefer your piece delivered already on stretcher bars, contact us before purchasing for a separate shipping quote at your own expense. If you're interested in framing, reach out to claire@clairepriceartist.com to discuss your vision — we're happy to provide quotes and mockups to help you visualize the finished piece.

What if I'm not happy with my purchase?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving the work. Choosing an artwork is a deeply personal experience, and we'll do our best to help place the right piece in your home — if something isn't right, contact us immediately and we'll try to facilitate an exchange or, if necessary, a refund. For returns, the client is responsible for the cost of shipping and insuring the piece back to us; once it arrives safely, a full refund is issued minus shipping and related expenses.

Is each piece truly one of a kind?

Yes — every original is a unique, one-of-one work, signed by the artist on the front and/or back, and shipped with a certificate of authenticity establishing provenance. The artist retains all copyright to the image, and reserves the right to reproduce it as prints or use it in future projects, at her discretion.

Do you take custom commissions?

Occasionally, by inquiry. Commission pricing is calculated at $4.50 per square inch, with a 50% non-refundable deposit required to begin. Contact us to discuss your piece and confirm availability.
