SEAGULL Acrylic on Wood Panel | 18" × 18" | 2022

Completely unbothered. Absolutely magnificent.

Seagull catches a herring gull at the moment of landing or leaving — wings fully extended, legs dropped, the whole bird suspended in that instant of maximum effort that looks, from the outside, completely effortless. The sky behind is the deep, moving blue of a coastal day when the wind is doing something interesting — painted in loose, expressive sweeps of cobalt and white that give the background the quality of actual weather, actual air, actual salt.

The gull itself is painted with genuine attention and genuine affection — the grey-green of the body, the black wingtips, the yellow eye that regards the world with the magnificent indifference of a creature that has decided it owns every beach it has ever visited and is correct about this. Paint drips at the lower canvas like sea spray or the tide or simply paint being honest about what it is.

This is a painting for anyone who loves the coast, who has ever watched a seagull wheel against a blue sky and understood instinctively that it was having a considerably better time than everyone below it.

Seagull. Unbothered. Magnificent. Completely its own.

FAQ

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer free shipping on most works, with shipping costs (when applicable) never exceeding 10% of the piece's price. Large canvases ship rolled in a professional tube; oversized works requiring special packaging may be an exception, and we're happy to provide a quote. International collectors are responsible for any duties and taxes upon arrival.

Can I receive my painting already stretched and framed?

Large works ship rolled by default for safety in transit. If you'd prefer your piece delivered already on stretcher bars, contact us before purchasing for a separate shipping quote at your own expense. If you're interested in framing, reach out to claire@clairepriceartist.com to discuss your vision — we're happy to provide quotes and mockups to help you visualize the finished piece.

What if I'm not happy with my purchase?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving the work. Choosing an artwork is a deeply personal experience, and we'll do our best to help place the right piece in your home — if something isn't right, contact us immediately and we'll try to facilitate an exchange or, if necessary, a refund. For returns, the client is responsible for the cost of shipping and insuring the piece back to us; once it arrives safely, a full refund is issued minus shipping and related expenses.

Is each piece truly one of a kind?

Yes — every original is a unique, one-of-one work, signed by the artist on the front and/or back, and shipped with a certificate of authenticity establishing provenance. The artist retains all copyright to the image, and reserves the right to reproduce it as prints or use it in future projects, at her discretion.

Do you take custom commissions?

Occasionally, by inquiry. Commission pricing is calculated at $4.50 per square inch, with a 50% non-refundable deposit required to begin. Contact us to discuss your piece and confirm availability.
