BLUE LOTUS KOI Acrylic on Birch Wood Panel | 48" × 60" | 2025

Some paintings are windows. This one is a portal.

Blue Lotus Koi is a large-scale immersive work painted on birch wood panel — the solid ground allowing layers of acrylic to build translucency and depth that canvas cannot replicate, the paint pooling and clearing like water itself, the surface alive with a luminosity that shifts as you move around it. A zen garden at the moment of perfect stillness, interrupted only by the movement of a single koi — orange, vivid, impossibly present — threading through a field of blue and violet lotus blooms that open across the surface with the unhurried certainty of something that has been blooming for two thousand years and intends to continue.

The lotus rises from the mud. The koi moves through the deep. Both are ancient symbols of spiritual awakening — of transformation, of beauty emerging from darkness, of the soul in motion through the world. Together on this panel they create something that operates simultaneously as a painting, as a meditation object and as a window into a world that is quieter, deeper and considerably more alive than the one outside it.

The birch wood panel ground gives the colours a depth and translucency that canvas simply cannot achieve — the greens genuinely deep, the blues and violets luminous, the orange of the koi almost shocking in its warmth against all that cool water colour. Layers of acrylic build beneath each other like the layers of a real pond — surface, middle depth, the darkness below — creating a painting you can look into rather than simply at.

At 48×60 Blue Lotus Koi is monumental in scale and intimate in feeling — the paradox of all great immersive painting. Stand in front of it and the room falls away. The water is right there. The koi is moving. The lotus is opening.

FAQ

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer free shipping on most works, with shipping costs (when applicable) never exceeding 10% of the piece's price. Large canvases ship rolled in a professional tube; oversized works requiring special packaging may be an exception, and we're happy to provide a quote. International collectors are responsible for any duties and taxes upon arrival.

Can I receive my painting already stretched and framed?

Large works ship rolled by default for safety in transit. If you'd prefer your piece delivered already on stretcher bars, contact us before purchasing for a separate shipping quote at your own expense. If you're interested in framing, reach out to claire@clairepriceartist.com to discuss your vision — we're happy to provide quotes and mockups to help you visualize the finished piece.

What if I'm not happy with my purchase?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving the work. Choosing an artwork is a deeply personal experience, and we'll do our best to help place the right piece in your home — if something isn't right, contact us immediately and we'll try to facilitate an exchange or, if necessary, a refund. For returns, the client is responsible for the cost of shipping and insuring the piece back to us; once it arrives safely, a full refund is issued minus shipping and related expenses.

Is each piece truly one of a kind?

Yes — every original is a unique, one-of-one work, signed by the artist on the front and/or back, and shipped with a certificate of authenticity establishing provenance. The artist retains all copyright to the image, and reserves the right to reproduce it as prints or use it in future projects, at her discretion.

Do you take custom commissions?

Occasionally, by inquiry. Commission pricing is calculated at $4.50 per square inch, with a 50% non-refundable deposit required to begin. Contact us to discuss your piece and confirm availability.
