Jaune. French for yellow. And not just any yellow — this yellow. Sunshine yellow. Taxi yellow. The yellow of a Parisian macaron counter, of a field of sunflowers in Provence, of the inside of a ripe mango, of joy itself distilled into a single, unapologetic, wall-to-wall colour statement.

Against this yellow, seven of the ocean's most extraordinary inhabitants have gathered for what can only be described as a party.

The tiger stripe nudibranch commands the centre — black and burnt orange, its dramatic markings so bold and graphic they look hand-designed, like something that escaped from a textile studio and ended up in the Pacific. Around it, two ruffled dorid nudibranchs spread their extraordinary brain-like folds in cream and rust, their edges crimped with a precision that would make a pastry chef weep with envy. A tiny orange dragon of a creature bristles with spikes in the lower left — one of nature's smallest and most ferocious-looking inhabitants, all attitude and texture in something barely larger than a thumbnail. Bottom right, a white bubble-textured nudibranch studded with orange-tipped cerata sits like a living piece of coral jewellery. And scattered between them all — hand-painted orange dots, the artist's own mark on the composition, a visual rhythm that ties the whole exuberant assembly together.

This is the painting where the Nudibranch series finds its most explicitly joyful register. Where Nudi Blue Crystal was cool and contemplative and Nudi Malachite was jewel-rich and complex, Nudi Jaune is simply, gloriously, unreservedly happy. It does not ask you to think. It asks you to feel — specifically, to feel the way you feel when something so colourful and alive and unexpected appears in front of you that your face does the thing faces do before your brain has had time to catch up.

The yellow background is not incidental. It is a declaration. In the deep ocean these creatures live against darkness — black water, black rock, the absence of light. Here they have been given what the ocean never gave them — sunshine. Maximum visibility. The spotlight they always deserved.

Created in a unique process combining photographic collage, hand-applied acrylic paint, orange dot detailing and a final layer of high-gloss resin, the surface glows with the particular luminosity of colour seen through water — or through the resin that stands in for it, preserving this moment of yellow joy permanently and completely.

Presented in a custom white wood floater frame that keeps the palette clean and contemporary, Nudi Jaune arrives completely finished and ready to immediately transform whatever wall it lands on.

FAQ

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer free shipping on most works, with shipping costs (when applicable) never exceeding 10% of the piece's price. Large canvases ship rolled in a professional tube; oversized works requiring special packaging may be an exception, and we're happy to provide a quote. International collectors are responsible for any duties and taxes upon arrival.

Can I receive my painting already stretched and framed?

Large works ship rolled by default for safety in transit. If you'd prefer your piece delivered already on stretcher bars, contact us before purchasing for a separate shipping quote at your own expense. If you're interested in framing, reach out to claire@clairepriceartist.com to discuss your vision — we're happy to provide quotes and mockups to help you visualize the finished piece.

What if I'm not happy with my purchase?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving the work. Choosing an artwork is a deeply personal experience, and we'll do our best to help place the right piece in your home — if something isn't right, contact us immediately and we'll try to facilitate an exchange or, if necessary, a refund. For returns, the client is responsible for the cost of shipping and insuring the piece back to us; once it arrives safely, a full refund is issued minus shipping and related expenses.

Is each piece truly one of a kind?

Yes — every original is a unique, one-of-one work, signed by the artist on the front and/or back, and shipped with a certificate of authenticity establishing provenance. The artist retains all copyright to the image, and reserves the right to reproduce it as prints or use it in future projects, at her discretion.

Do you take custom commissions?

Occasionally, by inquiry. Commission pricing is calculated at $4.50 per square inch, with a 50% non-refundable deposit required to begin. Contact us to discuss your piece and confirm availability.
