BONNIE JEAN Acrylic on Canvas | 36" × 36"

The performance is over. This part is just for her.

Bonnie Jean catches a dancer in the in-between — tutu still on, pointe shoes still laced, but the sunglasses are on and the pose is entirely her own. She reclines on a gold striped sofa with the particular ease of someone who has spent the entire day being watched and has now, finally, stopped performing for anyone. The tutu spreads around her in layers of white and lavender, painted with the loose, gestural confidence that makes fabric feel like it breathes. The sunglasses are purple. They are perfect. They are the whole painting in one detail.

The background refuses to be background — grey, blue, teal, orange marks drifting across the surface, a small mirror on the wall reflecting a tiny figure that might be her, might be someone else, might be the version of herself she performs for others. The marks are contemporary and urgent against the almost classical rendering of the figure — Degas interrupted, brought forward, given sunglasses and an attitude and a sofa she has absolutely earned.

Bonnie Jean is a painting about the private self that exists behind the public one. The dancer when the music stops. The person behind the performance. She is considerably more interesting than the performance ever was.

FAQ

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer free shipping on most works, with shipping costs (when applicable) never exceeding 10% of the piece's price. Large canvases ship rolled in a professional tube; oversized works requiring special packaging may be an exception, and we're happy to provide a quote. International collectors are responsible for any duties and taxes upon arrival.

Can I receive my painting already stretched and framed?

Large works ship rolled by default for safety in transit. If you'd prefer your piece delivered already on stretcher bars, contact us before purchasing for a separate shipping quote at your own expense. If you're interested in framing, reach out to claire@clairepriceartist.com to discuss your vision — we're happy to provide quotes and mockups to help you visualize the finished piece.

What if I'm not happy with my purchase?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving the work. Choosing an artwork is a deeply personal experience, and we'll do our best to help place the right piece in your home — if something isn't right, contact us immediately and we'll try to facilitate an exchange or, if necessary, a refund. For returns, the client is responsible for the cost of shipping and insuring the piece back to us; once it arrives safely, a full refund is issued minus shipping and related expenses.

Is each piece truly one of a kind?

Yes — every original is a unique, one-of-one work, signed by the artist on the front and/or back, and shipped with a certificate of authenticity establishing provenance. The artist retains all copyright to the image, and reserves the right to reproduce it as prints or use it in future projects, at her discretion.

Do you take custom commissions?

Occasionally, by inquiry. Commission pricing is calculated at $4.50 per square inch, with a 50% non-refundable deposit required to begin. Contact us to discuss your piece and confirm availability.
