JOAN OF BUBBLE Acrylic & Collage on Canvas | 20" × 20" | 2025

She has survived two thousand years and she is absolutely done being serious about it.

A classical bust — marble, ancient, the kind of face that has spent centuries in museum corridors being regarded with hushed reverence — arrives here on a ground of blazing vermillion orange, a pink bubble floating beside her cheek with the casual, magnificent irreverence of someone who has earned the right to chew gum in the Louvre. A slash of neon yellow. A thick, sculptural sweep of teal acrylic applied with a palette knife and left exactly as it landed. Purple at the collar. The texture of the paint surface doing something the marble never could — being alive, being now, being completely unapologetic about both.

The collage element grounds the classical reference in the physical — cut, placed, committed to — while the painted marks around it refuse to be anything other than contemporary. The tension between the ancient face and the pop palette is not ironic. It is genuinely affectionate. This is what happens when history is loved rather than preserved.

Joan of Bubble. She blew it two millennia ago and she'll blow it again.

FAQ

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer free shipping on most works, with shipping costs (when applicable) never exceeding 10% of the piece's price. Large canvases ship rolled in a professional tube; oversized works requiring special packaging may be an exception, and we're happy to provide a quote. International collectors are responsible for any duties and taxes upon arrival.

Can I receive my painting already stretched and framed?

Large works ship rolled by default for safety in transit. If you'd prefer your piece delivered already on stretcher bars, contact us before purchasing for a separate shipping quote at your own expense. If you're interested in framing, reach out to claire@clairepriceartist.com to discuss your vision — we're happy to provide quotes and mockups to help you visualize the finished piece.

What if I'm not happy with my purchase?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving the work. Choosing an artwork is a deeply personal experience, and we'll do our best to help place the right piece in your home — if something isn't right, contact us immediately and we'll try to facilitate an exchange or, if necessary, a refund. For returns, the client is responsible for the cost of shipping and insuring the piece back to us; once it arrives safely, a full refund is issued minus shipping and related expenses.

Is each piece truly one of a kind?

Yes — every original is a unique, one-of-one work, signed by the artist on the front and/or back, and shipped with a certificate of authenticity establishing provenance. The artist retains all copyright to the image, and reserves the right to reproduce it as prints or use it in future projects, at her discretion.

Do you take custom commissions?

Occasionally, by inquiry. Commission pricing is calculated at $4.50 per square inch, with a 50% non-refundable deposit required to begin. Contact us to discuss your piece and confirm availability.
