Go Robot takes one of the great images of mid-century science fiction optimism — the girl, the robot, the future that was going to be so clean and so certain and so full of helpful machines — and runs it through a contemporary painterly sensibility that is louder, messier and considerably more honest about how the future actually turned out.

A young woman sits on a stool with the relaxed confidence of someone who has made her peace with sharing the frame with a large black robot and found it entirely acceptable. Robby — or his cousin, or his descendant, or the idea of him — looms behind her with the particular combination of menace and helpfulness that defines the robot in the human imagination. Two orange eights float in the upper canvas like eyes or infinity symbols or the score of a game nobody explained. Neon green drips. Blue runs. The background is all lavender and mint and the particular yellow-green of a future that was promised in 1957 and delivered something considerably more complicated.

The painting is joyful and slightly unnerving in equal measure — which is exactly the right tone for a work about artificial intelligence, human optimism and the long, strange relationship between the two.

Go Robot. The future is already here. It's just unevenly distributed and occasionally dripping neon green.

FAQ

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer free shipping on most works, with shipping costs (when applicable) never exceeding 10% of the piece's price. Large canvases ship rolled in a professional tube; oversized works requiring special packaging may be an exception, and we're happy to provide a quote. International collectors are responsible for any duties and taxes upon arrival.

Can I receive my painting already stretched and framed?

Large works ship rolled by default for safety in transit. If you'd prefer your piece delivered already on stretcher bars, contact us before purchasing for a separate shipping quote at your own expense. If you're interested in framing, reach out to claire@clairepriceartist.com to discuss your vision — we're happy to provide quotes and mockups to help you visualize the finished piece.

What if I'm not happy with my purchase?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving the work. Choosing an artwork is a deeply personal experience, and we'll do our best to help place the right piece in your home — if something isn't right, contact us immediately and we'll try to facilitate an exchange or, if necessary, a refund. For returns, the client is responsible for the cost of shipping and insuring the piece back to us; once it arrives safely, a full refund is issued minus shipping and related expenses.

Is each piece truly one of a kind?

Yes — every original is a unique, one-of-one work, signed by the artist on the front and/or back, and shipped with a certificate of authenticity establishing provenance. The artist retains all copyright to the image, and reserves the right to reproduce it as prints or use it in future projects, at her discretion.

Do you take custom commissions?

Occasionally, by inquiry. Commission pricing is calculated at $4.50 per square inch, with a 50% non-refundable deposit required to begin. Contact us to discuss your piece and confirm availability.
