HAND SIGNALS Acrylic & Watercolour Collage on Canvas | 30" × 40"

Everything you need to say. Right there on the wall.

Six hands. Six gestures. Each one rendered in meticulous graphite-toned watercolour and collaged onto a ground of warm dusty rose — cut out, placed, arranged with the careful consideration of someone who understands that how you say something is as important as what you're saying. OK. Peace. I love you. The point. The pinch. And one that needs no explanation whatsoever.

Hand Signals is the painting that makes everyone in the room smile — and then look more carefully — and then smile again at what they find. There is humour here, and craft, and a quietly subversive intelligence that hides itself in plain sight. The hands are painted with genuine anatomical care — the kind of observational drawing that takes years to develop — then cut from their context and given new meaning by their arrangement and their company.

The rose ground is perfectly chosen — warm, a little retro, the colour of something between a telegram and a vintage poster. Against it, the hands float like a vocabulary lesson for people who already know all the words.

This is the kind of work that works in a home office, a creative studio, a living room that takes its art seriously but not too seriously. The kind of painting that people notice and remember and talk about.

FAQ

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer free shipping on most works, with shipping costs (when applicable) never exceeding 10% of the piece's price. Large canvases ship rolled in a professional tube; oversized works requiring special packaging may be an exception, and we're happy to provide a quote. International collectors are responsible for any duties and taxes upon arrival.

Can I receive my painting already stretched and framed?

Large works ship rolled by default for safety in transit. If you'd prefer your piece delivered already on stretcher bars, contact us before purchasing for a separate shipping quote at your own expense. If you're interested in framing, reach out to claire@clairepriceartist.com to discuss your vision — we're happy to provide quotes and mockups to help you visualize the finished piece.

What if I'm not happy with my purchase?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving the work. Choosing an artwork is a deeply personal experience, and we'll do our best to help place the right piece in your home — if something isn't right, contact us immediately and we'll try to facilitate an exchange or, if necessary, a refund. For returns, the client is responsible for the cost of shipping and insuring the piece back to us; once it arrives safely, a full refund is issued minus shipping and related expenses.

Is each piece truly one of a kind?

Yes — every original is a unique, one-of-one work, signed by the artist on the front and/or back, and shipped with a certificate of authenticity establishing provenance. The artist retains all copyright to the image, and reserves the right to reproduce it as prints or use it in future projects, at her discretion.

Do you take custom commissions?

Occasionally, by inquiry. Commission pricing is calculated at $4.50 per square inch, with a 50% non-refundable deposit required to begin. Contact us to discuss your piece and confirm availability.
