SLICE OF GATEAU Acrylic on Canvas | 36" × 48" | 2026 Delicacies Series

There is always one perfect moment at any celebration. This is it.

The cake has been cut. A single generous slice sits waiting on its plate, fork poised, a glossy maraschino cherry perched on top like a small, perfect punctuation mark. The whole scene unfolds on a red and white gingham cloth — that most nostalgic of tablecloths, the one that means summer, means family, means somewhere someone is happy.

Slice of Gateau is painted with the warm, unhurried affection of someone who has been to this party and loved every minute of it. The white frosting is luminous, layered with the kind of careful attention that makes you almost reach for the fork. The cherries gleam. The gingham hums. The knife rests at a satisfied angle.

This is still life painting as pure joy — the Delicacies Series at its most celebratory, most nostalgic and most irresistible. In the great tradition of food painting from Chardin to Wayne Thiebaud, Slice of Gateau takes its place at the table with complete confidence and absolutely no apologies.

Have your cake. Hang it too.

FAQ

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer free shipping on most works, with shipping costs (when applicable) never exceeding 10% of the piece's price. Large canvases ship rolled in a professional tube; oversized works requiring special packaging may be an exception, and we're happy to provide a quote. International collectors are responsible for any duties and taxes upon arrival.

Can I receive my painting already stretched and framed?

Large works ship rolled by default for safety in transit. If you'd prefer your piece delivered already on stretcher bars, contact us before purchasing for a separate shipping quote at your own expense. If you're interested in framing, reach out to claire@clairepriceartist.com to discuss your vision — we're happy to provide quotes and mockups to help you visualize the finished piece.

What if I'm not happy with my purchase?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving the work. Choosing an artwork is a deeply personal experience, and we'll do our best to help place the right piece in your home — if something isn't right, contact us immediately and we'll try to facilitate an exchange or, if necessary, a refund. For returns, the client is responsible for the cost of shipping and insuring the piece back to us; once it arrives safely, a full refund is issued minus shipping and related expenses.

Is each piece truly one of a kind?

Yes — every original is a unique, one-of-one work, signed by the artist on the front and/or back, and shipped with a certificate of authenticity establishing provenance. The artist retains all copyright to the image, and reserves the right to reproduce it as prints or use it in future projects, at her discretion.

Do you take custom commissions?

Occasionally, by inquiry. Commission pricing is calculated at $4.50 per square inch, with a 50% non-refundable deposit required to begin. Contact us to discuss your piece and confirm availability.
