TIDAL GALAXY Acrylic on Canvas | 48" × 48" | 2019

The fire is real. The water is real. The figures are from another time entirely. The stars don't care about any of it.

Tidal Galaxy is a painting of a night that exists between worlds — a campfire burning with genuine warmth in the lower left, its orange and gold completely present and completely now, while beside it figures from what appears to be a Victorian or Edwardian sculptural reference gather at the water's edge in grey-scale, as if they arrived from a different century and found this beach and decided to stay. The water behind them is the deep, luminous blue of a night ocean alive with reflected starlight — scattered with dots of white, red and neon green that are simultaneously stars reflected in water and paint doing what paint does when it is completely free.

Above it all the sky is the universe at full capacity — deep black scattered with light in every colour, the particular infinity of a clear night far from any city where the stars are not points but presences.

The neon green bleeds into the water at the lower right with the casual, extraordinary beauty of something that has no interest in being explained. The campfire crackles. The figures confer. The galaxy turns.

Tidal Galaxy is a painting about the smallness of human gathering against the scale of everything else — and the warmth of it. How a fire on a beach at night is both completely insignificant and the most important thing in the universe to the people sitting around it.

FAQ

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer free shipping on most works, with shipping costs (when applicable) never exceeding 10% of the piece's price. Large canvases ship rolled in a professional tube; oversized works requiring special packaging may be an exception, and we're happy to provide a quote. International collectors are responsible for any duties and taxes upon arrival.

Can I receive my painting already stretched and framed?

Large works ship rolled by default for safety in transit. If you'd prefer your piece delivered already on stretcher bars, contact us before purchasing for a separate shipping quote at your own expense. If you're interested in framing, reach out to claire@clairepriceartist.com to discuss your vision — we're happy to provide quotes and mockups to help you visualize the finished piece.

What if I'm not happy with my purchase?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving the work. Choosing an artwork is a deeply personal experience, and we'll do our best to help place the right piece in your home — if something isn't right, contact us immediately and we'll try to facilitate an exchange or, if necessary, a refund. For returns, the client is responsible for the cost of shipping and insuring the piece back to us; once it arrives safely, a full refund is issued minus shipping and related expenses.

Is each piece truly one of a kind?

Yes — every original is a unique, one-of-one work, signed by the artist on the front and/or back, and shipped with a certificate of authenticity establishing provenance. The artist retains all copyright to the image, and reserves the right to reproduce it as prints or use it in future projects, at her discretion.

Do you take custom commissions?

Occasionally, by inquiry. Commission pricing is calculated at $4.50 per square inch, with a 50% non-refundable deposit required to begin. Contact us to discuss your piece and confirm availability.
